I'm just always falling in love with my best friends. its a difficult pattern of behavior to overcome. This song in particular was inspired by a really difficult crush I had on this beautiful introverted soccer player when I was in college as well as a more recent experience. Soccer boy was one of my best friends for 4 years and I was in love with him the whole time. He would give me mixed messages and flirt with me when he was drunk, but then soberly reject me. It was not a cute experience. On the last night of college he showed up on my doorstep shitfaced drunk asking to hook up. I was uncomfortable, but let him into my house and we sat on my bed and I told him I didn't want it to happen like this. He got an attitude with me and started begging. Eventually he got up to use the toilet and ended up puking all over my bathroom. That's the last time I ever saw him.
